How to get involved:
Currently, we offer opportunities for undergraduate students through YEDI, our Youth Equity Discovery Initiative. YEDI is an initiative of the Berkeley Discovery Initiative, which seeks to expand the discovery experience for undergraduates interested in issues of youth equity. Our YEDI scholars program (formerly known as YES - Youth Equity Scholars) is a research mentorship and apprenticeship program. YEDI is targeted to undergraduate students with lived experiences of inequalities and scaffolds students working on research projects with critical skills, career guidance, cohort learning and cascading mentorship from faculty to graduate students to undergraduates. YEDI serves as a pipeline into careers and further education in this field while enhancing their undergraduate discovery experience.
Students apply to yearly URAP positions (hyperlink), or reach out to our faculty for volunteer positions and are then offered the opportunity to join the YEDI scholars, a group of undergraduates working in youth equity research. These scholars meet regularly for cohort building, skills training, career guidance and mentoring. Click here to review past program evaluations. If you are interested in a specific i4Y professor's research, we encourage you to submit a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your cover letter should include specific faculty that you are interested in working with and your specific area of interest.
If you would like to get involved, please submit a cover letter and resume to email@example.com. Your cover letter should include specific faculty that you are interested in working with and your specific area of interest for better matching.
