Support For This Initiative

Team, Partners, and Support

Our community engaged research institutional change initiative is led by Emily Ozer and Susan Stone at Berkeley, and Devin Corrigan at San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).

We gratefully acknowledge extramural catalyst funding by the WT Grant Foundation Institutional Challenge Award (2020-25) also with support from the Doris Duke Foundation, and internal seed support from the School of Social Welfare, School of Public Health, Vice Chancellor for Research Office (VCRO), and School of Education.

We work with the Chancellor, EVCP, Vice Chancellor for Research Office (VCRO), Vice Provost for the Faculty, and colleagues across campus to improve the support for community engaged research to strengthen the long term societal impact of our research mission.

Our Community Engaged Research Initiative core team includes: Drs. Marieka Schotland, Brian Villa, Andrea Perez Portillo, Joyce Dorado, and Allison Firestone (SFUSD), with undergraduate members Christian Lizaso (2022-2025), Johnny Luu (2022-2024), & Sarah Wan (2025).

Our campus vision and design is informed by the Advancing Institutional Capacity for Community Engaged Research (AICCER) working group co-convened in 2024-25 with AVCR Lok Siu and Tiff Dressen (VCRO Strategic Initiatives Manager).
